Hey folks,
For the past few weeks, I’ve been publishing last-minute articles for the sake of maintaining a weekly publishing cadence. I think doing decent work often produces more long-term benefit than producing excellent work infrequently.
That said, I have a few topics I’ve wanted to write about: arguments about things like affirmative action, our upcoming presidential election, and the like. These are complex, sensitive topics that require really well-reasoned and really thoughtful arguments. As a result, I’m spending a several hours on a complicated topic, realizing I can’t finish the piece before my self-imposed publishing deadline, and choosing not to finish it in the interest of writing something simpler. This piece is the result of that process: I’m several hours into a piece on affirmative action in higher education, but it’s not quite ready, and the subject deserves a bit more polish.
As such, I’m going to shift my publishing cadence a bit. I’m going to strive for weekly publishing, but my priority is thoughtful writing, first and foremost. If a piece isn’t ready to go by Sunday, it’ll hit your inbox a bit later in the week.
Consider this an experiment - another iteration of an argument I made back in November.
Thanks for reading,
Dan
